Welcome to the Cambois Hidden Depths Monologues—a collection of original pieces celebrating the people, places and stories that have shaped Cambois, Northumberland.
These monologues were created as part of Cambois Hidden Depths, a community heritage project led by The Tute in partnership with Novo Theatre. Working alongside local historians, members of The Tute’s writing group explored the rich history of Cambois, uncovering remarkable stories from the village’s past. Inspired by this research, they each wrote an original monologue bringing local history to life through contemporary storytelling.
The monologues were performed by professional actors at The Tute in Cambois as part of the project’s celebration of the area’s heritage. We’ve recorded them here so that everyone can experience these stories, whether you attended the live performances or are discovering Cambois for the first time.
At The Tute, we believe that every community has extraordinary stories worth telling. Projects like Cambois Hidden Depths help preserve local heritage, celebrate community voices and connect people with the history of the place they call home.
We hope these recordings inspire you to discover more about Cambois, its history and the people whose lives have shaped this remarkable coastal community.
Cambois Hidden Depths was made possible thanks to support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, this project’s stories and research will continue to be freely available for future generations.
